Cadillac Ranch (Amarillo/ Texas)

Cadillac Ranch is a public art installation involving 10 vintage Cadillacs. It was created in 1974 by members of the art group Ant Farm.
Since its beginning the car colours have gone through multiple evolutions. White for a TV commercial, then pink because of a founding member's wife's birthday, and again all 10 cars were painted flat black to mark the passing of Ant Farm artist Doug Michels. In 2012 they were painted rainbow colors to commemorate gay pride day. However most of the time you'll find the cars covered in graffiti.

Junk Cathedral (Austin/ Texas)

The Junk Cathedral was created out of of unwanted objects by ‘Junk King’ Vince Hannemann, who has been working on it since 1989.
In 2010 the city of Austin forced its closure claiming the structure was unsafe and 60 tons of materials were torn down. To rebuild the cathedral Vincent was told he'd have to obtain proper building permits and approval from an engineer, which he eventually got and over 7 months he resurrected it with the help of volunteers.

Inversion Tunnel House (Houston/ Texas)

Dan Havel and Dean Ruck turned a to-be-torn-down house into an art installation known as ‘Inversion.’ Using boards from the outside of the houses they created a large funnel-like vortex running between the two that ends in a small hole in an adjacent courtyard.
The building and an adjacent one have been used for exhibition space and art classes for over 30 years and were torn down in 2005 shortly after this "goodbye installation" so unfortunately this place doesn't exist anymore.
